Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • All submissions must meet the following requirements.

    • This submission meets the requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
    • This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
    • All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
    • All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
    • Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.

Author Guidelines

Authors interested in contributing to The Journal of Sport Psychology Research are invited to review our submission guidelines, which detail the formatting requirements and the submission process. We encourage innovative and evidence-based research that pushes the boundaries of our understanding of Sport Psychology.


Guidelines for Manuscript Preparation

Ensure that your manuscript adheres to the following formatting guidelines to facilitate the review process:

  • Ensure the work is original and has not been published elsewhere.
  • A cover letter must be provided.
  • All manuscript components should be typed in Times New Roman 12-point font, double spacing, and italics for emphasis, with one-inch margins on all sides. Lines of text must be numbered, and submitted files must be in Microsoft Word format.
  • For quantitative submissions, the manuscript should not exceed 30 double-spaced pages, while qualitative submissions should be limited to 35 pages, inclusive of tables, figures, and references. Embed illustrations, figures, and tables within the text.
  • Include a title page, a blind title page, a 250-word abstract (including up to three implications for practice), and a reference section. Include DOIs in the reference list where applicable.
  • The discussion section should adequately address the applied implications arising from the research findings.
  • Prepare the manuscript according to the guidelines of the Publication Manual of the American Psychology Association (Seventh Edition, 2020), including tables, figures, and references.
  • Manuscripts not conforming to these guidelines will be returned to authors upon submission.
  • Authors are urged to avoid sexist, racist, and offensive language. Describe the cultural characteristics of any studied sample population in the participant section of the method. Manuscript copies should be clear, legible, and figures must be camera-ready.

Article Processing Charge (APC)

Sport Science and Performance Publishing is dedicated to keeping the article processing charge (APC) as low as possible for all submissions. The time of our expert academic reviewers is valuable. Therefore, part of the fee compensates our expert reviewers to incentivize a high-quality and thorough review process.

Once a manuscript is accepted, Sport Science and Performance Publishing requires an APC of $300 USD to be settled before publication. The corresponding author will receive an email with a link for payment. Publication by Sport Science and Performance Publishing will not proceed until the APC is completed through PayPal.
